Domain History

1958 president Eisenhower funded ARPA – Advanced Research Project Agency.

Almost 10 years later in 1966 the Arpanet was formed, and this is the start of Internet.

In the beginning there weren’t that many computers connected so the IP umber system was perfectly OK. But as the number of connected computers grows larger, the need for a simplified system also grew. Another positive thing with domain names is that computers do not need to be concerned with the ip-address, the DNS – Domain Name System handles the conversion from domain name to IP-address. So now when you for example want to access a site like humanonline.com the DNS directs the request to the correct computer which holds the asked for document.

Today domain names are like property, companies buys and invest in them, they sell them and domain name auctions is something lots of people deals with.
